Louise A. Stephens Memorial Scholarship Winner Named!

Leela holds a B.A. in English and creative writing from the University of Michigan and is currently working toward her Masters in Library and Information Science at the University of Arizona where she also serves as a Knowledge River scholar. She works at the University of Arizona Poetry Center as the Library Specialist with a team of two wonderful librarians. Leela is so honored to be the 2021 recipient of the Louise A. Stephens Memorial scholarship. She hopes to follow in Ms. Stephens footsteps of children’s librarianship by pursuing a career in teen and young adult services. Leela believes in the power young people hold to better the world within and around them. When Leela isn’t in the library or studying for school she likes to write poetry, cook meals for friends, and make things with her hands. Leela lives in Tucson with her two spoiled cats.
